GLOBAL ROOTS TOURS

Terms & Booking Conditions

Last updated: June 25, 2026

These conditions apply to every journey booked with Global Roots Tours. By placing a deposit, you confirm you've read and agree to them. Our expeditions travel to remote regions of Panama and the Philippines — please read the risk and insurance sections carefully.

Booking & payment

Cancellation & refunds

Because we commit to in-country guides, communities, and logistics well in advance, cancellation terms are set per trip and stated in your written confirmation. As a general guide, deposits are non-refundable, and the refundable portion of the balance decreases as the departure date nears. We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers cancellation (see below). If we must cancel a departure, you'll be offered an alternative date or a refund of recoverable costs.

Travel insurance — required

Comprehensive travel insurance is a condition of travel. It must cover medical care, emergency evacuation (essential for remote areas), and trip cancellation/interruption. You travel at your own risk if you choose to be uninsured.

Passports, visas & health

You are responsible for valid travel documents, visas, and any required or recommended vaccinations. Our destinations are remote; you should be in reasonable health and fitness and must disclose medical conditions that could affect your safety or the group's. We can advise but cannot guarantee suitability.

Assumption of risk

Our journeys involve inherent risks of adventure and remote travel — including river and boat travel, jungle and mountain terrain, wildlife, limited medical access, and travel in developing regions. You acknowledge and voluntarily accept these risks. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Global Roots Tours is not liable for injury, illness, loss, delay, or damage arising from circumstances beyond our reasonable control or from the inherent risks of travel. Guests follow guide instructions for their own safety.

Force majeure

We are not responsible for changes, delays, or cancellations caused by events beyond our control — weather, natural events, political conditions, transport disruptions, illness outbreaks, or government action. In such cases we'll do our best to find a reasonable alternative.

Respect for communities

Our trips are built on relationships with the communities we visit. Guests agree to travel respectfully — following local guidance on photography, customs, and conduct. We reserve the right to end participation, without refund, for behavior that endangers others or disrespects our hosts.

The Feast & the Gift

A portion of each journey supports community meals and our nonprofit partner, Children of the Jungle (a 501(c)(3)). This giving is part of the experience, not a separate tax-deductible donation by you.

Changes & governing law

We may update these terms; the date above reflects changes, and the terms in your written confirmation govern your specific trip. These conditions are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, USA.
